Challenge Accepted
Leader Guide

Guidelines & Reminders

General Reminders

Thank you for your willingness to lead a Challenge Accepted group. Here are some principles that should guide your leadership throughout these upcoming weeks:
  • Text the group AT LEAST once a week. Twice a week would be ideal. Don’t feel embarrassed by setting an alarm or reminder on your phone. Consistency is the key, no matter how that happens.
  • Use the 24-Hour Rule. If a member of the group doesn’t respond to your weekly invite to participation within 24 hours, call (don’t text) them and encourage them to participate.
  • Set expectations clearly and early. Clarity offers your group members lane lines to operate from. Doing this early on will help avoid potential pitfalls down the road.

Texting Your Group

Copy & Paste—Use the content below to encourage your group. Feel free to copy and paste the Scripture and text below into your group chat.

Use the Content—Don’t feel pressured to reinvent the wheel. If a question or idea stuck out to you this week, use that as encouragement when you text your group.

Use Scripture—The best thing you can send are the Words from God Himself. Send scripture often as encouragement.

Dispel The Enemy’s Lies—The enemy wants the men in your group to believe the following:
  • They’re wasting their time
  • They’re not doing this for any meaningful reason
  • They can’t keep to a consistent plan (busyness, stress, other commitments, etc.)
Your job is to recognize if they’re believing these, and text to encourage them the opposite.

Track #1: Spiritual Disciplines

Week 1

QUESTION:
What is your plan for consistent time with God (Bible reading and prayer)? Share it and encourage others with your plan.

SCRIPTURE:
"All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

"For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)

"I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you." (Psalm 119:11)

"Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path." (Psalm 119:105)

Week 2

QUESTION:
Have you noticed a benefit from sticking with a consistent reading plan? What’s one encouragement you can give the group to keep going?

SCRIPTURE:
"All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

"Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:16-17)

Week 3

QUESTION:
What does your prayer life look like now? What’s one way you want to grow in consistency with prayer?

SCRIPTURE:
"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer." (Acts 2:42)

"Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

"Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Week 4

QUESTION:
Do you have accountability partners? What’s your plan to meet with them next or establish partners in your life?

SCRIPTURE:
"Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17)

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect." (James 5:16)

"Better an open reprimand than concealed love. The wounds of a friend are trustworthy, but the kisses of an enemy are excessive." (Proverbs 27:5-6)
